The L19 Heritage Silk Box Handbag brings Chinese textile artistry into a lightweight, structured silhouette designed for contemporary life.

Song Brocade or Zhang Rong forms the main body of the bag, allowing the woven textile to remain the visual focus. Top-grain leather reinforces the handle, base and corners, while a soft lambskin lining protects the interior.

Finished with waxed-thread stitching, multi-layer vacuum-plated steel hardware and a detachable shoulder strap, the L19 can be carried by hand, over the shoulder or across the body.

What Is Song Brocade?

Song Brocade, also known as Song Jin, is a historic silk-weaving tradition associated with Suzhou, China. It is recognized for its sophisticated warp-and-weft construction, balanced repeat patterns, refined colors and softly luminous surface.

Unlike an ordinary surface print, brocade forms its decorative imagery through woven threads. This creates subtle depth, texture and changing reflections under different lighting.

Song Brocade weaving is recognized as part of China’s national intangible cultural heritage. The Black Banana Leaf Lotus and Ivory White Dingsheng designs reinterpret this textile tradition in a contemporary handbag.

What Is Zhang Rong?

Zhang Rong is a traditional Chinese cut-velvet satin textile distinguished by the contrast between a smooth, luminous satin ground and raised velvet motifs.

The difference in pile height creates a relief-like effect sometimes described as “sculpture on silk.” As the viewing angle changes, the motifs move between shadow and light.

Black Fireworks and Sky Blue Floral feature Zhangduan textile panels. “Zhang Rong” is the name of the textile technique and should not be translated simply as ordinary satin.

Care & Cleaning

SONG BROCADE CARE

• Do not machine wash, hand wash, soak, bleach or tumble dry.
• Keep away from rain, prolonged humidity and direct sunlight.
• Remove surface dust with a clean, soft and dry cloth.
• For a small mark, gently dab with a barely damp, neutral-colored cloth. Do not rub or brush the woven threads.
• Professional cleaning by a specialist familiar with silk brocade is recommended for significant stains.

ZHANG RONG CARE

• Do not rub, brush or press the raised velvet motifs.
• Avoid crushing the pile under heavy objects.
• Remove dust using gentle air or an exceptionally soft textile brush, moving in the direction of the pile.
• Do not apply water, steam, alcohol or household stain remover.
• Significant stains should be treated by a professional textile conservator or cleaner experienced with silk velvet.

LEATHER AND LAMBSKIN CARE

• Wipe exterior leather gently with a clean, soft and dry cloth.
• Avoid contact with perfume, cosmetics, oils, alcohol and chemical cleaners.
• Keep the ivory, pink and sky-blue variants away from dark denim and strongly dyed fabrics.
• If the bag becomes wet, blot it immediately and allow it to air-dry naturally in a shaded, ventilated area.
• Do not use a hair dryer or place the bag near direct heat.
• Keep sharp objects away from the lambskin lining.

STORAGE

• Do not overfill the handbag or place heavy objects inside.
• Fill it lightly with acid-free tissue paper to preserve its structure.
