What's Zhuang Brocade
Zhuang brocade is a traditional textile art of the Zhuang ethnic group, with over a thousand years of history, originating in the Han Dynasty and developing in the Song Dynasty. It was once a royal tribute and a common household item, used for clothing, blankets, and accessories.
The weaving process involves up to 15 detailed steps, including warping, weaving, and embroidery. The patterns, inspired by nature—such as flowers, birds, and animals—carry symbolic meanings and showcase the artistry of the Zhuang people.
Woven from silk and cotton, Zhuang brocade features vibrant colors, mainly red, black, white, yellow, and blue, dyed using natural plants and minerals. It is a symbol of the Zhuang culture, reflecting their aesthetic values and craftsmanship.
